Stories

From time to time I write narrative stories about my adventures. The stories here are quite old, but they still provide some amusement for first-time visitors. Unfortunately, my workload has grown to the point where I no longer have time to write stories. Please enjoy these!

View From Vancouver
(Oct-1994) Vancouver harbour has been called one of the most scenic views in Canada. It is nestled in a "natural alcove" formed by the runoff water from the Rocky Mountains spilling into the Pacific Ocean. The north shore slopes gently upward, supporting some of the most luxurious homes in the vicinity, while the south shore boasts the office towers of the downtown core.

During a recent visit to Vancouver, I decided to fly the harbour and enjoy the spectacular scenery firsthand... no postcard required. Having made the decision, it was easy to accomplish. ... more...

Airbus A320 Simulator
(Sep-1996) This report covers our flying club tour of the simulators at Air Canada’s facility at Pearson Airport. We were told that if time and space permitted, we’d all be given a chance to fly the simulator. We were booked into the B767 simulator for 1000h local time on a cold, rainy Saturday morning in September. more...

Both Phil and I work in the computer industry, and when we travel together, we usually rent an airplane and do some touring. This trip was no exception. Let me give you "my version" of the trip... more...

It took less than a millisecond for my decision: "Sure! I’d love to!" ... And that’s where it all started. ... more...

Young Eagles Day 2002
A Zero Gravity Adventure
(Jun-2002) Friday night was wet. Real wet. Plus thunder and lightning. Continued rain was forecast for Saturday, predicted at 40% for most of the day. Parents were calling me and asking if the Young Eagles Day events were still scheduled. I checked with JvL, who said that the weather would be just fine. "Tell 'em all to show up!”. So I did. ... more...
